3. Cantina Berioli. The Berioli's Cellar combines tradition with innovation, focusing on organic winemaking practices. They cultivate 12 hectares of organic vineyards using only natural products, avoiding chemical pesticides. Their red wines feature Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, while their white wines showcase Grechetto, Chardonnay, and Trebbiano Toscano. Grechetto, an ancient native vine with a thick skin, contributes to their sweet dessert wines. Grapes are handpicked during harvest to ensure high-quality wines every year.

MAY 2024

Calendimaggio in Assisi, from May 8th to the 11th, 2024.

A medieval-themed festival that heralds spring and occurs every first Thursday, Friday, and Saturday following May 1. This lively event features two rival teams: the Nobilissima Parte de Sopra representing the upper city and the Magnifica Parte de Sotto representing the lower city, vying for the prestigious Palio prize. The teams engage in friendly competition through elaborate parades in authentic medieval attire, dramatic recitations, and joyful singing and dancing along the ancient streets and squares of the city. The victor is determined by a panel of esteemed judges including historians, musicians, and entertainment experts, who announce the triumphant team at the festival's conclusion.

Corsa dei Ceri, May 15th.

Every May 15th, Gubbio hosts the renowned Festa dei Ceri, a festival celebrated throughout Italy and beyond. Unlike a mere religious event honoring patron Saint Ubaldo or a historical reenactment, this festival embodies the essence of an entire region, blending tradition and culture in a profound union.

During the festival, three candles bearing statues of St. Ubaldo, St. Giorgio, and St. Antonio are carried through Gubbio's historic streets in a thrilling race. The day begins with the solemn 'raising' of the Ceri in Piazza Grande, where participants gather for the spirited race up to Mount Ingino's basilica of Sant'Ubaldo. The race, marked by skilled maneuvers and exhilarating moments, culminates in a joyous celebration where locals and visitors revel in traditional music, dance, and culinary delights, immersing themselves in Gubbio's cherished cultural heritage.

JUNE 2024

Infiorata di Spello, June 1st and 2nd, 2024.

Each year during the Corpus Christi festival, Spello's streets burst with vibrant carpets and floral paintings, a tribute to the revered Corpus Christi procession. This longstanding tradition, known as Spello's Infiorata, adorns the village with a symphony of colors and scents, attracting visitors worldwide. Originating in the 18th century, the Infiorata showcases intricate floral designs on the city's main pathways, a testament to the local artisans' skill and the event's rich heritage.

The evolution of Spello's Infiorata, from scattered flowers to elaborate "carpets" and paintings, began in the 19th century but flourished artistically in the 1930s. Today, attendees are treated to mesmerizing floral arrangements, complemented by a traditional procession and cultural festivities. The upcoming Spello Infiorata on June 1 and 2, 2024, promises a blend of floral beauty and cultural experiences, including concerts, art exhibitions, and theatrical performances, offering a unique immersion into Spello's cultural tapestry.

The Renaissance Festival, in Acquasparta, June 8th to the 23rd, 2024.

"The Renaissance Festival" is set to return to Acquasparta from June 8 to 23, celebrating the historical and cultural legacy of the Renaissance. The festival commemorates the 1614 arrival of Prince Federico Cesi, founder of Europe's first scientific academy, the Accademia dei Lincei.

The event kicks off with the Grande Corteo delle Contrade, featuring a grand procession in Renaissance costumes. The village’s three contrade—San Cristoforo, Porta Vecchia, and Il Ghetto—will compete over 15 days for the "keys" to the city in various competitions:

Gastronomic Competition: Live preparation of a Renaissance recipe using traditional Umbrian ingredients.

Joust of the Rattling Drums: Includes performances by flag-wavers.

Great Goose Game: A costumed reenactment of a 16th-century board game.

Theatre Races: Amateur actors from each contrada stage interpretations of pre-1630 texts.

Giochi delle Dame: Women of all ages compete in games based on historical daily activities.

Additionally, the festival offers numerous side events, promoting the exploration of the local environment and providing entertainment for both adults and children.

Infiorata di Citta' della Pieve, June 13th to the 26th, 2024.

Every year, the Casalino District honors their patron Saint Luigi Gonzaga with a unique infiorata, showcasing their creativity and devotion.

This event, a highlight of the city's summer calendar, signifies the beginning of local summer festivities. The infiorata blends art, spirituality, history, and ancient traditions, creating a magical atmosphere during the summer solstice nights. Visitors are treated to musical performances throughout the weekend, adding to the enchantment of the event.

The streets of the historical center are transformed into a vibrant tapestry of sacred drawings, meticulously crafted with colorful flowers by the dedicated contrada members, making the Infiorata a truly unparalleled spectacle the following morning.

Mercato delle Gaite, Bevagna, June 19th to the 30th, 2024.

The Mercato delle Gaite, renowned as one of Europe's premier medieval re-enactments, will grace Bevagna from June 19 to 30, 2024.

During this time, Bevagna's four historic quarters, known as 'guaite o gaite', engage in spirited competitions showcasing medieval trades, culinary delights, and a bustling medieval market, transporting attendees back to the enchanting era of the Middle Ages.

The town's streets teem with vibrant stalls, echoing with the lively sounds of artisan workshops where skilled craftsmen and masters of the craft unveil ancient techniques and tools of medieval craftsmanship to fascinated visitors.

Jesters and jugglers entertain the crowds while the four taverns engage in a gastronomic showdown between the gaite, offering a delightful opportunity to savor authentic dishes from bygone eras throughout the event.

Festival dei Due Mondi, Spoleto.

From June 28 to July 14, 2024, Spoleto welcomes back its renowned festival, showcasing top international performances across the city's diverse venues, including theatres, open-air spaces, and unconventional settings, making it a focal point in Italy. Now in its 67th edition, the festival promises a vibrant array of opera, music, theatre, dance, exhibitions, film screenings, and special guests.

The Spoleto Festival maintains its prestigious status as a significant international event, serving as a historical crossroads for diverse cultures and a platform for established and emerging artists to present original productions. Umbria Jazz, July 12th - 21st 2024

Every July, since 1973, Perugia transforms into a jazz paradise with the Umbria Jazz Festival. This ten-day fiesta has grown into one of Europe's premier jazz events, drawing locals and tourists eager to experience its unique charm. The city buzzes with music lovers, filling its ancient streets and squares with the sounds of world-class jazz. Palio delle Barche, Passignano sul Trasimeno, July 20th to the 28th.

The big event in town is the annual Palio delle Barche, a battle of boating ability that re-enacts an epic battle between feuding nobles. There are rowing contests, boating activities, and flag-throwing competitions along with the pomp and ceremonies, and parties and concerts. Held the week before the last Sunday in July.

AUGUST 2024

Palio dei Terzieri, Citta' della Pieve.

The Palio of Città della Pieve, also known as the Palio dei Terzieri, is a renowned medieval festival in Umbria, centered around a captivating horse race among the town's three historic districts or "terzieri." Though relatively modern compared to other palio events, it has become a highlight of the region and a major tourist attraction for the town. Held in August over several days, with the main race occurring on the second-to-last Sunday, the festival celebrates the unique heritage and symbolism of the terzieri, each representing distinct social classes historically.

The divisions of Terziere Castello, Borgo Dentro, and Casalino not only embody historical social structures but also add a rich layer of tradition to the festivities. The event culminates in the Lancio della Sfida on Ferragosto (August 15), where the previous year's winning terziere returns the Pallium to the Podestà of Castel della Pieve, marking the beginning of spirited competitions and festivities leading up to the grand finale of the Palio.

Lamborghini

Ferruccio Lamborghini, renowned for his exotic Lamborghini cars, also created a 9-hole golf course on his estate near Panicale, nestled on the shores of Lake Trasimeno. Spanning 45 hectares of picturesque Umbrian countryside, the course is surrounded by vineyards and forests. Ferruccio's aim was to promote golf in the area and make it accessible to locals. In addition to the nine holes, the facility features a covered driving range and an illuminated area for pitching, putting, and bunker practice. The modern clubhouse, positioned prominently on the estate, welcomes visitors with a friendly atmosphere. Here, guests can unwind and enjoy amenities such as a bar, pro shop, billiards, and a gym.

Antognolla

Perugia Golf Club

Conveniently situated just 6 km from the heart of the Etruscan city of Perugia, The Golf Club offers a gently undulating Par 72 course. Originally established in the late fifties, the course underwent a redesign in the early nineties by architect David Mezzacane. Surrounded by lush countryside, the fairways present various challenges that demand precision from players.

The Club House, crafted from a historic lime kiln dating back to 1921, retains its majestic towers that stand guard along the entry path, evoking the charm of the English countryside. Within the clubhouse, guests can enjoy a restaurant serving typical Umbrian dishes and take a refreshing dip in the new swimming pool available to members and guests.

Facilities include a driving range, putting and chipping greens, as well as pitching and bunker areas, ensuring a comprehensive golfing experience for all enthusiasts.
